Little Bear and the Dark

The night came soft. The lamp went low. Little Bear watched the dark grow.
"Oh," said Bear. "The dark is here." He held his blanket, soft and near.
The dark was big. The dark was deep. But Bear was warm and half asleep.
The room was still.
The dark was kind.
Bear breathed slow.
He put one paw out in the night. The dark was soft. The dark was right.
No teeth, no growl, no bump, no boo — just quiet air and moonlight too.
"Hello, dark," said Little Bear. "You're only night. You're only air."
The dark was big. The dark was deep. And Bear was brave, and nearly asleep.
The moon was low.
The night was soft.
Bear was warm.
He pulled his blanket to his chin. The quiet dark came softly in.
The dark was kind. The dark was near. And Little Bear had nothing to fear.
Slow paw. Slow breath. Slow, sleepy head. Warm little bear in his warm little bed.
